Game Summary

The Saint Joseph Saints won their final regular season game on Wednesday night with a 4-3 exhibition victory in 10 innings over the Brainerd Bees at Schneider Field.  Ryan Stark singled home Luke Schumer with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to give the Saints the victory.  Stark led the Saints at the plate by going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Schumer finished 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored and Andy Schneider was 2-for-4.  Chad Schwegel picked up the win on the mound for the Saints with one inning of perfect relief in the 10th.  Jason Ellingson started and pitched seven strong innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.

The Bees grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but the Saints took advantage of four Bee errors and no hits in the bottom of the third to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead.  Tom Kemper reached on an error and moved to second on a groundout, Aaron Rocheleau reached on an error to score Kemper, Schloe walked, Rocheleau scored and Schloe went to third on an error off the bat of Schumer, and Schloe scored on an error off the bat of Stark.  The Bees tied the game in the top of the fourth at 3-3 and the game stayed that way until the bottom of the 10th, when the Saints scored one run to win the game.  With two outs and nobody on base, Schumer smacked a double that hit the middle of the right field fence on the fly and Stark followed that up with a single to right field to score Schumer with the winning run.
