The Saint Joseph Saints won their fourth straight game with a 7-2 victory over the Clear Lake Lakers on Sunday afternoon at Schneider Field in their final regular season Lakewood League game. Ryan Stark led the team's 13-hit attack by finishing 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Aaron Rocheleau and Luke Schumer both added two hits and a run scored and Michael Carr was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Blake Cheeley pitched seven innings to pick up the win on the mound. The Saints finished the Lakewood League season with a 9-4 record and will be the #3 seed in the Central Division playoffs, which begin next weekend.
Clear Lake jumped up quickly with a leadoff home run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead, but the Saints came back with two in the bottom of the second. Schumer doubled, Stark doubled home Schumer, and Tom Kemper singled home Stark. In the sixth, Clear Lake tied the game at 2-2, but the Saints reclaimed the lead with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Stark reached on an error, Wald singled, Charlie Carr walked to load the bases, Michael Carr singled to score Stark, and Casey Haugen reached on a fielder's choice to score Wald. The Saints scored again in the seventh when Stark singled to score Rocheleau, who had doubled earlier, and make the score 5-2. In the eighth, the Saints scored their final two runs when Michael Carr singled, stole second, and scored on Jason Ellingson's single. Casey Haugen then re-entered for Ellingson, stole second, went to third on Dan Scholand's single, and scored on Andy Schneider's single to make the score 7-2.
