Game Summary

On Sunday, the Saints' bats came back to life as they pounded out 12 hits against the Lakers.  Jason Wald and Craig Hern both finished 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs to lead the Saints and Ryan Stark went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.  Blake Cheeley continued the strong pitching for the Saints with six solid innings on the mound to pick up the victory.  Cheeley allowed one earned run on six hits, no walks, and one strikeout.  Josh Vorpahl, a draftee from HR Pesty's Snappers, pitched the final three innings for the save, with just one hit allowed and five strikeouts.

The Saints score first in the bottom of the second inning when Stark and Hern singled, Wald doubled to the right center gap to score both runners, and Charlie Carr singled home Wald to put the Saints up 3-0.  In the third, Clear Lake scored an unearned run to cut into the lead, but the Saints came back with four more runs of their own to take a 7-1 lead.  Aaron Rocheleau led off with a walk, Brent Schloe singled Rocheleau over to third on a hit-and-run play, Luke Schumer reached on an infield single to load the bases, Stark singled to score Rocheleau, Hern grounded out to score Schloe, and both Schumer and Stark came around to score on two wild pitches.  Clear Lake added a run in the top of the sixth to make the score 7-2, but the Saints responded with another run in the bottom of the seventh.  Casey Haugen led off with a single and went to third on an errant pickoff attempt.  Hern later singled Haugen home to end the scoring at 8-2.
