On Sunday, the Saints' bats stayed hot as they pounded out 11 more hits against Granite City. The Saints were led by Brent Schloe, who finished 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Danny Scholand finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, Charlie Carr was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Luke Schumer hit a 2-run home run and scored twice. Blake Cheeley picked up the win on the mound with eight solid innings of work. He allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, three walks, and five strikeouts.
The Saints scored the first run on of the game in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Craig Hern walked, went to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on Carr's single. The Saints scored again in the second after Ryan Stark reached on a fielder's choice and Hern doubled him home. The Grays scored a run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead in half at 2-1, but the Saints responded with four of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Andy Schneider singled and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Carr, Scholand singled to put runners on the corners, Scholand was picked off stealing second, but the throw went into center, allowing Schneider to score and Scholand to go to third. Later, Schloe followed with a double off the center field fence to score Scholand, and Schumer followed that with a home run to right to score Schloe and give the Saints a 6-1 lead. Granite City added two runs in the seventh to cut the lead in half again, but the Saints put the game out of reach with four more runs in the bottom of the inning. Schloe singled and went to second on a wild pitch, Schumer was hit by a pitch, Stark sacrifice bunted both runners up a base, but due to the throw being mishandled at first, Schloe came in to score and the ensuing throw went in the dugout, allowing Schumer to score and Stark to reach third as well. Tom Kemper then squeezed home Stark and the throw to get Kemper went down the right field line, allowing Kemper to reach third. Schneider followed that up with a sacrifice fly to score Kemper and put the Saints up 10-3. The Saints added one more run in the eighth when Aaron Rocheleau reached and advanced to second on an error and Schloe singled him home.
