On Sunday, the Saints trailed 5-4 going into the ninth before erupting for five runs to steal a win from the Lakers. The Saints pounded out a season high 18 hits in the game, led by Ryan Stark, who finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Dan Scholand, Brent Schloe, Craig Hern, Luke Schumer, Andy Schneider, and Charlie Carr all had two hits as well. Schneider drove in three runs, including the game-tying double in the ninth, and Steve Newman's two run single broke the tie. Chad Schwegel went all nine innings to earn his third win of the season. He allowed three earned runs on seven hits, two walks, and he struck out six.
The Saints struck in the top of the first when Stark doubled, advanced to third on a Schloe single, and scored on Schumer's single to left. However, the Lakers came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Saints tied the game in the third, though, with two more of their own. Stark doubled, went to third on a groundout, scored on Hern's double, and Hern scored on Schneider's single. Clear Lake took the lead again in the fifth with two more runs to make the score 5-3. The Saints scored one run in the seventh when Hern singled, stole second, went to third on a groundout, and scored on Schneider's groundout. With the score 5-4 going to the ninth, the Saints made their comeback. Schloe led off with a double, Schumer was hit by a pitch, and Schneider doubled home pinch runner Bryan Rocheleau to tie the game. Newman followed that with a single to score both Schumer and Schneider, Carr doubled home Newman, Matt O'Neil singled to put runners at the corners, and Stark singled to score Carr and give the Saints a 9-5 lead.
