Game Summary

On Sunday, the Saints played one of their worst games of the year against Freeport.  The offense managed just eight hits, the defense committed four errors, and the pitchers allowed a season high number of runs (10) and hits (17) to a good hitting Black Sox team that just played all around better.  Brent Schloe led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and Luke Schumer was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Chad Schwegel took the loss on the mound.

The Saints jumped out early in the top of the first with a run to take a 1-0 lead.  Dan Scholand singled, went to second on a single by Stark, moved to third on a double play, and scored on an error.  Freeport tied the game in the third and then scored four times in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead.  The Saints got a run back in the sixth when Schloe lead off with a double, went to third on a single by Andy Schneider, and scored on a groundout by Schumer.  However, that was all the scoring the Saints would do on the day.  The Black Sox added two runs in the bottom of the sixth, two more in the seventh, and one in the eighth to take a commanding lead and win the game 10-2.
