Game Summary

On Sunday, the Saints fell behind for the third straight game and had to come from behind in the bottom of the ninth to tie and win the game.  The Saints pounded out 13 hits in the game and their defense committed no errors while turning three double plays.  Brent Schloe led the team on offense, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI.  Charlie Carr went 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, and two RBIs; Andy Schneider finished 2-for-4 with a run scored; and Eli Stenman was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.  Blake Cheeley picked up the win with two perfect innings of relief, striking out three batters.

The Saints trailed 1-0 after the top of the first, but quickly tied the game in the bottom of the inning.  Michael Carr walked, went to second on an infield hit by Schloe, moved to third on a fielder's choice by Luke Schumer, and scored on an errant throw into centerfield as Schumer stole second.  The Saints took the lead in the second after Schneider singled, went to second on a bunt by Tom Kemper, and scored on Stenman's single to left-center.  Litchfield tied it with on in the top of the third, but St. Joe took the lead again with three more runs in the bottom of the third.  Schloe and Schumer both singled with one out and Charlie Carr doubled them home.  Schneider then singled, Kemper walked to load the bases, and Stenman walked to force home Carr and give the Saints a 5-3 lead.  The score remained that way until the sixth when Litchfield scored two to tie the game and they added another in the seventh to take the lead 6-5.  But, with one out in the bottom of the ninth, Schloe doubled to score Jason Wald and tie the game.  After Schumer walked, Charlie Carr singled, but Schloe was gunned down at the plate.  A walk to Schneider loaded the bases and Tom Kemper followed with a single to deep short to score Schumer and end the game.
