Game Summary

On Saturday, the Saints pounded out 14 hits in the game, including six for extra bases, to defeat Jimmy's by the 10-run rule.  The 13 runs scored are a season high for the Saints.  Leading the way was Brent Schloe, who finished 3-for-4 with a home run, double, two runs scored, and four RBIs.  Charlie Carr chipped in a 2-for-5 game, including a double, run scored, and three RBIs, and Steve Newman went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and two RBIs.  Craig Hern added a double and two RBIs and Ryan Stark scored two runs.  Blake Cheeley improve to 3-0 on the season with seven solid innings on the mound.  He allowed two unearned runs on seven hits, two walks, and he had four strikeouts.

The Saints jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after an inning of play.  Ryan Stark singled and Schloe followed with a two run home run to right.  Jimmy's cut the lead in half in the second with a single run, but the Saints struck for two more in the fifth.  Carr and Dan Scholand reached on errors, Carr went to third on a fielder's choice by Stark, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Schloe.  Hern then doubled to score Stark and give the Saints a 4-1 lead.  Jimmy's got another run in the top of the sixth, but the Saints got two more right back in the bottom frame.  Newman singled, Jason Wald walked, and Carr doubled them both home to make the score 6-2.  The Saints scored two runs again in the seventh when Schloe singled, Luke Schumer walked, Andy Schneider singled to load the bases, and Newman doubled home pinch runners Brandon Haag and Eli Stenman.  Jimmy's scored a run in the top of the eighth with a solo home run to make the score 8-3, but the Saints put the game away via the 10-run rule with five runs in the bottom of the inning.  Pinch hitter Matt O'Neill doubled, pinch hitter Keith Plekkenpol singled, Schloe doubled home O'Neill, a sacrifice fly by Hern scored Plekkenpol, Schumer and Schneider walked to fill the bases, Tom Kemper was hit by a pitch to force home Schloe, a fielder's choice by Wald scored Schumer, and Carr singled to score Schneider with the game-ending run.
