Game Summary

On Friday, the Saints' late inning rally fell short as they lost a one run game to the Steves.   The Saints managed just seven hits in the game, led by Luke Schumer, who finished 2-for-5, and Steve Newman, who drove in two runs.  The Saints left 11 men on base in the game, two days after leaving 16 men on base against Sartell.  Blake Cheeley took the complete game loss on the mound.

The Saints fell behind 4-0 after the Steves put up a 4-spot in the bottom of the third inning.  However, the Saints came right back with four of their own in the top of the fourth.  Jason Wald and Charlie Carr walked, Keith Plekkenpol singled home Wald, Matt O'Neill doubled home Carr, Dan Scholand Walked to load the bases, and Steve Newman singled home Plekkenpol and O'Neill to tie the game at 4-4.  The Steves tacked on two runs in the fifth and another in the eighth to take a 7-4 lead.  The Saints mounted a small comeback with two runs in the top of the ninth and had the bases loaded with only one out, but couldn't get the tying run across.  Brent Schloe singled with one out, Andy Schneider walked, Schumer singled to load the bases, Wald walked to force across Schloe, and Eli Stenman grounded out to score Schneider.
