Game Summary

On Saturday, the Saints played one of their best all around games of the year against Ultimate Sports.  The offense pounded out 16 hits, the defense committed just one harmless error, and Blake Cheeley pitched a complete game shutout by scattering six hits, one walk, and striking out 11 batters.  The shutout was the team's second of the season.  On offense, Brent Schloe finished 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs to lead the team.  Andy Schneider went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, Tom Kemper was 3-for-5, Luke Schumer was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Dan Scholand scored two runs, and Eli Stenman drove in two runs to aid in the win.

The Saints jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after just one inning of play.  Scholand led off the bottom of the first with a walk, Ryan Stark singled, Schloe tripled to score Scholand and Stark, and Schneider grounded out to score Schloe.  The score remained that way until the Saints struck again for three more runs in the sixth.  With two outs, Scholand was hit by a pitch and stole second.  Michael Carr followed with a single to score Scholand and went to second on an error.  A wild pitch moved Carr to third, Schloe was intentionally walked, pinch runner Bryan Rocheleau stole second, and Andy Schneider followed with a single to score Carr and Rocheleau and give the Saints a 6-0 lead.  The Saints tacked on three insurance runs in the eighth to end the game's scoring at 9-0.  Schloe led off the inning with a solo home run to right and then Schneider, Schumer, Steve Newman, and Stenman all hit consecutive singles, with Stenman's driving home Schumer and Newman.
