On Sunday, the Saints came out flat and sluggish and their performance showed as they were drubbed by the Cardinals. After an early 1-0 lead by the Saints, the Cardinals scored all eight of their runs in the fourth inning. St. Joe did play error-free ball for just the second time this season, but only managed seven hits and left ten men on base. Leading the offense was Aaron Hellem, who finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Aaron Rocheleau had two hits and Tom Kemper scored two runs as well. Rocheleau picked up the loss on the mound in his first start of the season after allowing no earned runs through 15 innings of relief.
The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Kemper walked and Hellem doubled him home. However, the Cardinals would answer and score all eight of their runs in the top of the fourth inning on just four hits, four walks, and a hit batsman. The Saints got one run back in the bottom of the fourth when Kemper walked and Hellem doubled him home again to make the score 8-2, but neither team scored again after that.
