Game Summary

On Saturday, the Saints led 4-3 after seven innings against Lake Henry, but six hits seven walks, and a hit batter over the last two innings led to 11 unanswered runs by the Lakers.  The Saints managed just seven hits in the game and made four errors on defense.  Leading the offense was Brent Schloe, who finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Chad Schwegel started for the Saints and went six strong innings in his first outing of the year.  He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, walked none, and had seven strikeouts.  Rob Fodness was tagged with the loss.

The Saints scored quickly in the bottom of the first inning when Dan Scholand doubled to center, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on a single by Schloe.  In the second, Paul Schumer was hit by a pitch, Brock Cheeley singled, Scholand reached on an error that scored Schumer, Ryan Stark walked to load the bases, and Schloe walked to force home Cheeley and put the Saints up 3-0.  The Lakers got on the board with an unearned run in the fourth and added single runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the game at 3-3.  In the seventh, the Saints regained the lead at 4-3 when Stark reached on an error, went to second on a single by Schloe, moved to third on a walk to Luke Schumer, and scored when Tom Kemper walked.  However, the Lakers stormed back with three runs in the eight and eight in the ninth off of the Saints' relievers to take the game 14-4.
