Game Summary

On Sunday, the Saints' bats came back to life as they pounded out 14 hits against the Blues.  The Saints broke open a 5-5 tie after five innings with a four-run sixth to pull ahead for good despite the pitchers allowing ten walks.  Brent Schloe led the offensive attack by going 4-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored, and five RBIs.  Jason Wald added a 3-for-4 performance with a home run, two runs, and an RBI, while Ryan Stark finished 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.  Aaron Rocheleau picked up his first win of the season on the mound with five solid innings of relief in which he allowed no runs on two hits, four walks, and eight strikeouts.

The Saints scored quickly in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead when Dan Scholand singled, went to second on a balk, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored on Schloe's single.  The Blues, however, answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.  In the third, the Saints tied the game when Michael Carr singled and then scored on a home run by Schloe to right center.  The Saints took a brief lead again in the fourth with two more runs when Wald and Stark singled, Scholand sacrificed them up a base, Carr hit a sacrifice fly to score Wald, and Schloe singled to score Stark.  The Blues came right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 5-5.  In the sixth, though, the Saints scored four times to take the lead for good.  Stark singled, Scholand sacrificed him to second, Carr walked, Schloe singled to score Stark, Carr and Schloe advanced on a wild pitch, Luke Schumer walked to fill the bases, Rocheleau walked to force home Carr, Newman hit a sacrifice fly to score Schloe, and Paul Schumer doubled home Luke Schumer, with Rocheleau being gunned down at the plate.  The Saints added an insurance run in the seventh when Wald homered to left center and another run in the ninth when Paul Schumer walked, Wald singled, and Stark singled home Schumer to make the score 11-5.
