The Saint Joseph Saints' woes continued on Wednesday night as they dropped their third straight game, this time to the Cold Spring Springers, by a score of 10-3 at Springer Park in Cold Spring. The Saints made four fielding errors, hit into three double plays, left ten men on base, and made several base running mistakes to take themselves out of scoring opportunities. Offensively, Michael Carr, Brent Schloe, Luke Schumer, and Aaron Rocheleau all had two hits as the Saints managed 11 hits in the game. Tom Kemper added a pinch hit, two-run single as well. Chad Schwegel took the loss on the mound for the Saints.
The Springers jumped out early by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and then added another run in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Saints finally got on the board with a single run in the sixth when Schloe singled, Luke Schumer singled, Jason Wald walked, and Schloe scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Paul Schumer. The Springers responded with three more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take an 8-1 before the Saints scored two runs in the top of the eighth. Wald walked, Paul Schumer singled, Aaron Rocheleau singled to fill the bases, and Kemper blooped a single to center to score Wald and Schumer. The Springers added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to finish the scoring at 10-3.
