Game Summary

On Friday night, the Saints blew a 5-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Blues came from behind to win in 10 innings.  The Saints left 16 men on base in the game despite collecting 12 hits as their clutch hitting woes continued.  Leading the offense was Brent Schloe, who finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Luke Schumer, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs.  Aaron Rocheleau picked up the loss in relief of Aaron Hellem.

The Saints jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after an inning of play when Danny Scholand walked and went to second on a wild pitch, Schloe singled Scholand to third, Schumer singled home Scholand, and Rocheleau doubled home Schloe.  St. Joe added two more runs in the third when Schloe singled and Schumer homered to right, his first of the year.  Litchfield scored their first run in the bottom of the third to make the score 4-1, but the Saints got that run back in the top of the eighth inning.  Scholand walked, Chad Hockemeyer doubled, and Schloe singled home Scholand.  However, the Blues erupted for four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 5-5 and went on to win the game after a two-out, run-scoring double in the bottom of the tenth plated the winning run to give them a 6-5 victory.
