On Friday, the Saints trailed 3-1 after six innings with only five hits in the game until the erupted for 11 runs on eight hits over the final three innings to defeat the Stingers. Paul Schumer tied the game with a two-run home run in the seventh and the Saints scored seven runs in the ninth, all with two outs, to open up a comfortable lead. Danny Scholand (2-for-5, double, run, RBI), Brent Schloe (2-for-5, home run, two runs, three RBIs), and Joe Prom (2-for-3, RBI) led the Saints at the plate. Schumer also finished with three runs and two RBIs, Tom Kemper scored two runs, and Michael Carr added two RBIs. Scott Sand picked up the victory on the mound in relief of Schumer by pitching four scoreless innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and striking out five.
The Saints scored first in the top of the second inning when Mike Dabu walked, Travis Genty singled, Bryan Rocheleau singled to load the bases, and a fielder's choice off the bat of Scholand scored Dabu for a 1-0 Saints lead. The Stingers scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead that would hold until the top of the seventh when the Saints mounted their comeback. Schloe led of the inning with a walk, Schumer smacked a home run to tie the game, Kemper singled, Carr walked, and Sand singled to score Kemper and give the Saints a 4-3 lead. In the eighth, the Saints tacked on another run when Schumer walked, stole second, and scored on Chad Hockemeyer's single. The Saints blew the game open with seven runs in the ninth inning with two outs to put the game out of reach. Sand reached on a fielder's choice; Scholand singled and an error on the center fielder allowed Sand to score and Scholand to reach third; Jason Wald walked; Schloe hit a home run to score Scholand and Wald; Schumer was hit by a pitch; Hockemeyer walked; Kemper walked to load the bases; Carr singled to score Schumer and Hockemeyer and move Kemper to third; and Prom singled to score Kemper and make the score 12-3 in favor of the Saints.
