Game Summary

On Saturday, the Saints committed two costly errors that led to three unearned runs and the offense only managed seven hits against the Rocks.  Luke Schumer finished 3-for-4 to lead the Saints at the plate while Mike Dabu and Paul Schumer each had RBI singles.  Chad Schwegel picked up the loss on the mound in four innings of work.  The game was ended after eight innings due to darkness.

The Rocks led 1-0 after just a half inning, but the Saints took the lead in the bottom of the first with two of their own runs.  Jake Althaus was hit by a pitch, Dabu singled Althaus to third, Brent Schloe hit a sacrifice fly to score Althaus, a wild pitch moved Dabu to second, Luke Schumer singled Dabu to third, and an error scored Dabu for a 2-1 Saints lead.  However, the Rocks scored three runs in the top of the second after two errors.  The Saints scored a run in the bottom half of the second after D.J. Brown singled, went to second on a ground out, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a ground out by Dabu.  The Rocks added two more runs in the fourth and the Saints would add just one more in the sixth to cut into the lead.  Jason Wald walked, Steve Newman was hit by a pitch, Dan Scholand sacrificed both runners up a base, and Paul Schumer singled home Wald to make the score 6-4.
