Game Summary

On Saturday, the Saints' lack of clutch hitting led to their demise against Sauk Centre, stranding 12 men on base in the game.  After leading 4-1 for most of the game, the Titans scored two runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to pull ahead.  Leading the Saints at the plate was Paul Schumer, who went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Brent Schloe added two hits and an RBI as well.  Jason Wald picked up the loss on the mound in relief of Schumer.

The Saints jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with two runs in each of the first two innings.  In the first, Dan Scholand was hit by a pitch, Michael Carr walked, Luke Schumer walked to load the bases, a fielder's choice forced Scholand out at home with the bases remaining loaded, and Paul Schumer singled home Carr and Luke Schumer.  In the second, Bryan Rocheleau and Scholand each singled, Schloe singled home Rocheleau, and an error off of Luke Schumer's bat scored Scholand.  The Titans added a run in the third to make the score 4-1, then started their comeback in the sixth with two runs, and added two more in the seventh and eighth to take a 7-4 lead.  The Saints cut into the lead with two in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-6, but left the tying run on third base when the final out was recorded.  In the ninth, Wald walked, Paul Schumer singled, Jake Althaus doubled home Wald and moved Schumer to third, and Mike Dabu grounded out to score Schumer.
