On Saturday, the Saints' lack of clutch hitting did them in as they left 20 men on base in a loss to the Snappers. The Saints were able to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th with a two-out hit, but they left the bases loaded in the 11th and 12th innings with less than two outs and also had two runners on with in the 13th and 15th innings and failed to score every innings. The offense managed 12 hits in the game, led by Danny Scholand, Aaron Rocheleau, Brent Schloe, and Luke Schumer, who all had two hits. Scholand had a run and an RBI as well. Aaron Hellem started on the mound and pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run on eight hits, two walks, and he struck out five. Luke Schumer pitched the final eight innings and picked up the tough loss. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, five walks, and had eight strikeouts.
The Snappers took a 1-0 lead in the second and the score remained that way until the Saints tied the game in the sixth. Scholand walked, Rocheleau singled, Schumer singled to load the bases, and Scholand scored on a groundout off the bat of Jason Wald. The Snappers took the lead in the ninth, but the Saints were able to tie the game again in the bottom of the inning. Steve Newman walked, Chad Hockemeyer reached on an error, Jake Althaus sacrificed both runners up a base, and Scholand reached on an infield single to score Newman and tie the game at 2-2. The game went for six more innings with neither team scoring until the top of the 15th when the Snappers scored the go-ahead run and take the game 3-2.
