Game Summary

On Wednesday, the Saints pounded out a season-high 17 hits on a very windy night in Saint Wendel.  Michael Carr led the offense for the Saints, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBIs.  Tom Kemper was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI, Dan Scholand went 3-for-6 with a double and three RBIs, Travis Genty was 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored, and an RBI, and Joe Prom added a hit, run, and three RBIs for the Saints.  Chad Schwegel pitched eight solid innings to pick up the win on the mound.  He allowed two runs on three hits, four walks, and struck out eight.

In a Battle of the Saints, St. Joe started their scoring in the top of the second inning with two runs.  Genty singled, Kemper walked, Jake Althaus singled home Genty with Kemper advancing to third, and Bryan Rocheleau grounded out to score Kemper.  St. Joe would add three more in the fourth to open op their lead.  Genty reached on an error, Kemper walked, Althaus sacrificed both runners up a base, Scott Sand singled home Genty, Scholand singled home Kemper, and Carr singled home Sand to put St. Joe up 5-0.  St. Wendel chipped into the lead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, but St. Joe pulled away in the top of the eighth with four runs of their own.  Kemper singled, Mike Dabu walked, a wild pitch advanced both runners, Prom singled to score Kemper and Dabu, Scholand reached on an error with Prom going to third, Scholand stole second and went to third on a throwing error that also brought Prom in, and Carr singled to score Scholand.  St. Joe added five more runs in the top of the ninth when Althaus walked, Genty tripled home Althaus, Kemper singled home Genty, Dabu was hit by a pitch, Rocheleau walked to fill the bases, Prom grounded out to score Kemper, and Scholand doubled home Dabu and Rocheleau to make the score 14-2.
