Recap for the 07/27/2011 game @ Saint Cloud Ultimate Snappers (Playoffs)

Preview Box Score Recap

The St. Joseph Saints saw their 2011 season come to a disappointing and earlier-than-expected conclusion on Wednesday night as they fell 2-0 to the St. Cloud Ultimate Snappers in a Lakewood League National Division Playoff game.  The Saints couldn't get any offense going, as they managed just five hits in the game, led by Steve Newman, who finished 2-for-4.  Scott Sand picked up the loss on the mound despite a solid performance.  He allowed two runs on six hits, one walk, and struck out two.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Snappers scored both of their runs with consecutive RBI hits with two outs.  Neither team scored after that, and the Snappers took the game 2-0.  With the win, St. Cloud advances to the Region 10C Tournament, which will be held in St. Joseph at Schneider Field on August 6, 7, and 13.  They will also play the Sartell Muskies in a seeding game on Saturday, July 30th, at 1:30 pm in Sartell.
